How
do we serve you now?
DARB
offers year round use of the indoor pool with open swims, morning
lap swims, swimming and diving lessons, Aqua Club, and private
pool parties. The outdoor pool is used for summer pool parties,
open swims, Red Cross certified swimming lessons, movie nights,
and the annual "Doggie Paddle" pool party. DARB also
offers sports clubs, clinics, and teams including spring and
fall soccer for all ages, seven different basketball programs,
a diving clinic, Diamond Dolls twirling, baseball and softball
conditioning, and a climbing wall. DARB offers regular bus trips
for adults, including casinos and other places of interest. Awesome
Weekend Explorations are offered one Saturday every month for
children in grades kindergarten to eighth grade to discover new
things like forensics, cooking with science, Chinese, and more.
Other programs offered by DARB include discount amusement park
and ski tickets, letters from Santa, adult computer classes,
and Camp DARB, a summer day camp for children in Kindergarten
through age 12.
.
What
could be offered to the Derry Area with more funds?
DARB
would like to offer Youth Coaches Training Clinics. Better trained
coaches would result in improved team programs for competition.
The programs established by DARB would act as feeder programs
for our Middle and High Schools. DARB would also like to add
new classes for our adult and senior programs to enhance health,
create hobbies, and connect the community. DARB would like to
support the community through assertive playground refurbishment
to focus on improving playgrounds and break ground for the community
skate spot.
The
sky is the limit! Depending on local talent and interest, there
could be programs in theater and the creative arts, Derry Light
Up and free Community Pool days cold be established, and extended
office and programming staff could provide better administrative
and office services.
.
Employment
DARB
employs one full-time employee, responsible for all aspects of
the organization, and several seasonal and/or part-time employees
hired for specific programs such as Camp DARB, Derry Care, lifeguards,
summer pool manager, adult education instructors. Beginning each
spring through fall, a groundskeeper is hired to take care of
the community playground, and Derry Community Pool.
